Today we’re looking at adding shell sections to a midplaned model in ABAQUS! This allows us to define thickness and number of integration points, as well as defining the offset position of the analytical shell with respect to the geometry.
Choosing the correct shell idealization, thickness, offset, and element formulation is an important part of developing a reliable FEA methodology.
