Explicit Dynamic Analysis

For some applications, like crash testing, metal forming and explosive or ballistic events, static analysis just can't resolve the physics. In these situations, explicit FEA can be applied to properly capture the highly dynamic, time dependent events.

Explicit dynamic solutions are required when extreme loading is applied over short time periods. These are typically events where significant kinetic energies are involved. It can also be applied where the non-linearity in the solution is so great that standard static analysis is no longer applicable.

Getting results from an explicit dynamic analysis is relatively easy because there is no requirement for a stable, balanced solution to be achieved. However, great care and skill is necessary to ensure the outcome is relevant and has true physical meaning.
